About Step Up Nigeria:

Step Up Nigeria is a creative team building bridges for improved governance to tackle corruption and improve service delivery. Our vision is that Nigeria’s socio-economic development is not held back by corruption and poor governance. Our mission is to foster a transparent and equitable society by actively engaging and empowering citizens to fight corruption and demand quality services and public goods.

We stimulate public awareness of topical issues in tackling corruption and improving the delivery of public goods and services. We help to create spaces for citizen engagement in the fight against corruption through the creation of accountability mechanisms such as feedback platforms or anti-corruption reporting mechanisms. We educate Nigerians on the ills of corruption and how to tackle corruption. We provide linkages between government and citizens to work collaboratively in tackling corruption and service delivery issues.

We work in the following ways: Using social accountability actions and mechanisms to tackle corruption and improve service delivery. Conducting evidence-based research to help inform the discourse on improving transparency and accountability. Communicating with impact to influence good governance processes.

About the Roles

Step Up Nigeria offers an opportunity for 4 exceptional individuals to join our team to gain technical knowledge and experience in the anti-corruption and service delivery space in Nigeria. The interns will provide support to the programme and evaluation team, as well as the communications and admin team. The successful candidates will be expected to work 4 days a week in a hybrid (remote/physical) format (excluding 1 CDS day for youth corps members). Youth Corps members are encouraged to apply. The open job roles include the following:

1.     Position: Programme and Learning Intern

Location: Yaba, Lagos State

Remuneration: NGN 60,000 per month

●      Conduct research and produce briefs.

●      Compile notes from key meetings.

●      Support the implementation and reporting of projects and partnership activities.

●      Support data entry of evaluation sheets and analysis to ensure efficient capture of Step Up Nigeria’s work.

●      Support mainstreaming of anti-corruption education in Lagos State.

●     Support the Teachers Training Programme in Lagos.

●      Support the planning and organization of meetings and events.

●      Perform support and administrative tasks as necessary in the day-to-day office operations.

2.     Position: Programme and Learning Intern

Location: Abuja, FCT

Remuneration: NGN 60,000 per month

●      Conduct research and produce briefs.

●      Support the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Team.

●      Support the Teachers’ Training Programme in FCT.

●      Support the implementation and reporting of projects and partnership activities.

●      Support data entry and analysis to ensure efficient capture of Step Up Nigeria’s work.

●      Support the planning and organization of meetings and events.

●      Perform support and administrative/logistics tasks as necessary in the day-to-day office operations.

3.     Position: Programme and Communications Intern

Location: Yaba, Lagos State

Remuneration: NGN 60,000 per month

●      Conduct research and produce blogs.

●      Support communications and advocacy through posting on and promoting the organization’s social media channels & YouTube channels to ensure effective visibility on the main areas of Step Up Nigeria’s work.

●      Production of content for the website and social media platforms through photography, banners and editing of videos and pictures.

●     Support the implementation, and reporting of projects and partnership activities.

●      Support the planning and organization of meetings and events.

●      Perform support and administrative tasks as necessary in the day-to-day office operations.

4.     Position: Programme and Communications Intern

Location: Abuja, FCT

Remuneration: NGN 60,000 per month

●      Conduct research for proposals and produce briefs.

●      Production of podcasts and monthly newsletters.

●     Responsible for managing and updating the content on the website.

●      Support the production of content for social media platforms through photography, banners and editing of videos and pictures.

●      Supporting communications and advocacy through providing media presence to ensure effective visibility on the main areas of Step Up Nigeria’s work.

●     Support the implementation, and reporting of projects and partnership activities.

●      Support the planning and organization of meetings and events.

●      Perform support and administrative tasks as necessary in the day-to-day office operations.

Key Competencies for Interns:

●      Good analytical skills in gathering and consolidating data and research for practical implementation.

●      Excellent writing skills to develop briefs and reports.

●      Conceptual thinking skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems and suggest improvements.

●      Excellent organizational skills and ability to adjust to dynamic situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through.

●      Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English.

●      Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.

Required Experience for Internship:

●      Proof of Tertiary Education (Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and Colleges of Education).

●      No post-tertiary/NYSC experience is required to apply for this role.

●      Currently serving National Youth Service Corps members (NYSC) are encouraged to apply.

Duration of Internship:

This role is open for six months and may be renewed based on available funding.
