Organisation: Partnership between Flywheel Economics and Step Up Nigeria
Location: Abuja, Nigeria (Hybrid working – at least one day a week from the office)
Type: Full-time
Salary: ₦150,000 per month (gross salary) with potential for supplementary income dependent on consulting assignments.
Duration: One year (subject to satisfactory probation period), with potential for extension based on performance and availability of funds.

About Flywheel Economics: Flywheel economics aims to facilitate discussions and share good practice on how the Flywheel Economy principles can be applied in practice. It has a particular focus on applying these approaches to investment, innovation and economic policy making in emerging markets. The Flywheel Economy is an approach built on the foundational principle that economies should be treated as ecosystems. Therefore, economic policymakers should look to facilitate natural flywheels within these ecosystems to enable sustained and equitable economic growth. Alongside this, Flywheel Economics has also built a vibrant niche in looking at the value for money of international development programming. 

About Step Up Nigeria: Step Up Nigeria is on a mission to reduce corruption through anti-corruption education. Our mission includes educating Nigerians about the consequences of corruption, and fostering government-citizen collaboration for better governance.

Role Purpose:

The Junior Programme Associate is an entry level position, which will ensure and create the regular production of cutting- edge economic content based on the principles of the flywheel economy. 

Essential Criteria:

1. Economic Content Creation:  Solid background in economics or an appetite to learn quickly, with experience with a range of communication methods such as content calendars, newsletters, blog posts, website updates, videos, social media and press releases.

2. Aptitude for telling compelling stories. It is crucial for the economic content produced by Flywheel Economics to have compelling narratives that help it to be interesting, impactful and insightful. Aptitude for telling compelling stories is essential.

3. Project management: Some experience and willingness to learn in overseeing the planning and execution of significant projects or events. 

Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a well organised, self-starting, motivated individual with a solid background in economics or an ability to learn fast. They should also be comfortable in managing professional social media accounts and telling compelling stories that are grounded in evidence. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop economic content with the support of the Flywheel Economics team, they should have proficiency in social media, and experience in podcast and newsletter development. They should have transferable skills that can be used across a range of projects.
