Salary: NGN 120,000 per month (gross salary) 

Duration: One-year fixed term position subject to renewal based on funding and performance

About Step Up Nigeria

Step Up Nigeria is a civil society organisation working to tackle corruption by addressing the social norms, values, and behaviours that enable it. We work primarily with children, young people, schools, teachers, parents, and communities, using education and values-based approaches to reduce tolerance for corruption and strengthen integrity.

We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Programme Intern. This role is ideal for a fast learner who enjoys working with children and young people and is interested in building a career in anti-corruption, education, and social change.

Role Summary

The Programme Intern will primarily support the delivery of Step-Up Nigeria’s programmes and partnership activities, working closely with schools, teachers, parents, and young people. The role will also involve supporting proposal development, reporting, documentation, and learning.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is proactive, organised, and excited about working both in the field and on written programme outputs.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Delivery and Partnerships

  • Supporting the delivery of programmes and partnership activities, including:
    • Assisting with engaging with children and young people
    • Engaging schools, teachers, and parents
    • Supporting school-based and community activities
  • Assisting with the planning and coordination of programme activities, meetings, workshops, and events
  • Supporting monitoring, documentation, and learning from programme implementation

Proposals, Reporting, and Research 

  • Supporting the development of project proposals and donor reports
  • Conducting background research and producing short briefs and summaries to inform programme design and learning
  • Assisting with data collection, organisation, and basic analysis

General Support

  • Providing administrative and operational support related to programme delivery, as required

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Good writing skills, with the ability to contribute to reports, briefs, and proposals
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic working environment

Education and Experience

  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
  • A second-class upper degree is desirable but not essential
  • Prior work experience is desirable but not essential
  • Completion of NYSC is accepted as work experience

We are more interested in potential, attitude, fast learners  and commitment than formal experience.

Work Arrangement

  • Four (4) days per week
  • One compulsory day per week in the office
  • Three days remote, unless required to be in the office for programme activities or meetings

Remuneration

  • ₦120,000 per month

Duration

  • One-year fixed-term position with a three-month probation
