THE 2022 ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARDS

We hosted the third annual anti-corruption star awards this year with support from the MacArthur Foundation. This year saw 10 people receive the award in 9 categories. Meet our 2022 anti-corruption Stars!

JUNIOR YOUNG ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

9 year-old Jedidiah David won the Junior Young Anti-corruption Star award which is given to primary school pupils who have taken actions to promote integrity and raise awareness of the need for society to shun corruption . He was nominated alongside Inioluwa Esther Akinleye and Al-Ameen Abubakar. Click on their names to watch their videos.

SENIOR YOUNG ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

14 year-old Sang-Oluwaseyi Tadagbe won the Senior Young Anti-corruption Star award which is given to secondary school pupils who have taken specific actions to stop or expose corruption in their schools or communities.. She was nominated alongside Princess Ihedike, Amina Aliyu Umar and Musa Sheriff. Click on their names to watch their videos.

OOS YOUNG ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

I5 year-old Yetunde Olupo won the Out-of-School Young Anti-corruption Star award for taking exemplary action to promote anti-corruption learning and integrity culture at the Lagos state special correctional facility for girls. She was nominated alongside Moses Rabo and Emile Ateji. Click on their names to watch their videos.

TEACHER ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

Amb. Mercy Babajide won the Teacher Anti-corruption Star award for institutionalising anti-corruption education in her school by teaching anti-corruption content in her classroom and as an anti-corruption campaign/creative program on the assembly ground. She has also adopted the use of anti-corruption materials in her school, and independently trained other teachers to teach anti-corruption to children using creative approaches. She was nominated alongside Mrs Rose Ochia and Mrs Adenike Abiola. Click on their names to watch their videos.

PARENT ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

Mrs Folasade Adepoju won the Parent Anti-corruption Star award for promoting integrity and raising awareness on the need for society to shun corruption at home, in their children’s schools and communities. She was nominated alongside Mrs Oluchi Achi Uzodinma and Mr Are Femi. Click on their names to watch their videos.

FIRST-TIME VOTER ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

Comrade Margaret Jakpovi won the First-Time Voter Anti-corruption Star award for taking action in her community by resisting and tackling vote-buying, and also promoting anti-corruption values in the community. She was nominated alongside Dadamu Oklah, Nafisat Suleman and Adebayo Osigbosin. Click on their names to watch their videos.

COMMUNITY ANTI-CORRUPTION STAR AWARD

Mrs Temitope Osigbosin won the Community Anti-corruption Star award for mobilising people in her community to resist/tackle vote-buying and selling, and for encouraging young people to lead that advocacy. She was nominated alongside Mr Asaamoga U. Dennis and Isah Yaqub Yusuf. Click on their names to watch their videos.

SPECIAL DEDICATION AWARD

Mr Udofia Uduakabasi Edet won the Special Dedication Award for his passion in building a culture of integrity in his school and other schools in his environment. He ensured that anti-corruption teaching was institutionalised in his school and has extended that teaching to other schools. He was nominated alongside Mrs Ndukwu Busayo Mercy and Mr Goodness Prosper Osibemhe. Click on their names to watch their videos.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD

Hon. Emmanuel Orji Kanu and Mr Emmanuel Sawuta Anthony won the Special Recognition Award. This award is given to a key education stakeholder in the public or private  education sector who has taken extraordinary actions to ensure that anti-corruption education is being institutionalised in schools. Through the partnership and influence of AFED through Hon Orji and FCT UBEB through Mr Anthony, the teaching of anti-corruption education is mainstreamed in 15,000 schools under their control by including it in the scheme of work or the use of anti-corruption materials in these schools. .Click on their names to watch their videos.

WE HAD OUR ANNUAL TEAM RETREAT

What better way to end the year than with team building and team bonding activities. We had all members of our team come in from Nasarawa and Lagos to our HQ in Abuja for a week of reflection, strategic planning, team building and bonding activities. We are thankful to our trainers Dr. Akin Oke and Ms. Maureen Ideozu for a fun and educative session. We are stronger and better because of this. Here are some highlights of 2022.
