Ep.4 Nigeria’s Supreme Audit Institution and the fight against corruption

The Step Up Nigeria team discuss the role of Supreme Audit Institutions in the fight against corruption. This episode covers issues such as Nigeria’s 2016 Audit, which for the first time ever was ‘qualified’, the challenges in holding NNPC to account compared with other revenue agencies, and the emerging collaborative partnerships between Nigeria’s Supreme Audit Institution, other anti-corruption agencies, the Public Accounts Committee and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs)- all aimed to help strengthen accountability.

 

The Step Up Nigeria team are joined by special guest Mr. Ismail Adeleye, Director at the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation.

Onyinye recognised that there was a problem in Nigeria with many corrupt practices having become culturally acceptable and sought to put together a book for children to help educate them on the impact of corruption.
